Mumbai, India, 14th August 2025: St Pauls Institute of Communication Education (SPICE) is proud to announce an exclusive special screening and masterclass with acclaimed film director Jaskunwar Kohli, the creative force behind Zero Se Restart – The Making of 12th Fail. The event will offer students and aspiring filmmakers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the creation of one of India’s most celebrated films of recent years.
Zero Se Restart is a candid, award-winning documentary chronicling the making of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s “12th Fail”, which captured audiences worldwide with its story of resilience and authenticity. The documentary reveals the challenges and creative decisions that shaped the film, from the casting shift from Varun Dhawan to Vikrant Massey for greater realism, to unexpected on-location moments in Mukherjee Nagar that underscored the power of storytelling.
The film has been widely acclaimed by critics, with NDTV calling it “a wonderfully lucid work of cinema that every film lover must watch.” It is currently streaming in over 200 countries on Prime Video and recently won The German Star of India 2025 (Audience Award) at the 22nd Indian Film Festival Stuttgart.
The session will feature a screening of Zero Se Restart, followed by an interactive masterclass where Jaskunwar Kohli will share personal experiences, filmmaking techniques, and advice for aspiring creatives.
