The Master of Communication is offered through a credit pathway from the Post-Graduate Program at St Pauls Institute of Communication Education (SPICE) in association with Deakin University, Australia.

The Master of Communication course is a stimulating course which creates professionals with advanced knowledge of communication, theory, analysis, research and skills. The course recognizes the advances in communication technologies and the increasing globalization of business enterprises.

The course is designed for those wanting to enter the professional communication industry and those already in the industry wanting to gain or add to their qualifications for career advancement prospects.

You can select to undertake specific and intensive training in the areas of journalism, public relations and advertising with scope to foray into areas of media and communication. Students will graduate with a Deakin University qualification.

The program, for the full duration, can be completed in India.


The Master of Communication is a 2-year program with 16 Credit points across 4 spread across 4 semesters. The course is divided into 2 parts.

In Australia, Deakin is located on three campuses in the state of Victoria – Melbourne Burwood Campus, Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus and Geelong Waterfront Campus.

Semester 1

Covers the Post-Graduate Program in Journalism or Advertising conducted by St Pauls Institute of Communication Education. Each program offers classroom theories in fundamentals, accompanied by a continuous focus on practicals in the chosen subject, delivered by industry professionals.

Semester 2

Communication concepts - a comprehensive introduction to the study of communication by examining its various definitions, approaches and application to communication practices in advertising, journalism, public relations and media production.

Research methods - designed for students who are interested in developing applied research skills for the Communication Industry.

Semester 3

Digital marketing - how organisations employ digital marketing to understand and reach priority audiences.

International news - examining the imperatives of global news flows, international news gathering and story dissemination.

Reputation management – how crisis, risk, issue, can impact all sectors and industries. Advertising Theory and Practice - examining advertising from a range of theoretical and applied perspectives to understand its role as a persuasive communication technique.

Semester 4

Advanced Communication Research – comprising four phases of research project thesis, or project work along with the analytical report, based on original research involving theoretical, interpretative and analytical work.

The institute will release Application Forms (Online mode/ Offline –Print copies) in the month of February 2019.

The Entrance exams for all Diploma Programs Class of 2019 will be held in the month of March 2019.

  • On successful completion of the pathway at SPICE in Year 1, students will be enrolling at Deakin University in Year 2 to complete the Master of Communication through CloudCampus.
  • On successful completion of both parts, students will be eligible for the Deakin Master of Communication.
  • Students will be assessed based on the same entry criteria as any other Deakin University students.
  • Students can transfer to Deakin University Australia on completion of part 1. However, Deakin International student fees will apply.
  • Students will also need to comply with Visa requirements and regulations to study in Australia.
  • Applicants to the SPICE Postgraduate Program (in association with Deakin), will be simultaneously be Master of Communication. Students will be given a conditional offer for enrollment in the Master of Communication at Deakin University, Australia based on successful completion.

Is this an accredited Master degree?

Yes, you can complete the second year at a campus at Deakin. However, the fee would be as per the current fee for on-campus studies.

  • One Passport size photograph
  • Original & Xerox copy of photo ID address proof
  • Original and Xerox copy of the 1st to 6th Semester mark sheet. Students awaiting the degree results may submit the Xerox copies of the 1st to 5th Semester mark sheet.
  • Application Fee is Rs.1500 (Payable by cash or cheque in the name of SPICE)

Note: Students are required to have a score of at least 55% across all semesters.

The entrance test will evaluate your general awareness on media, reasoning and analytical abilities and language skills.
The entrance exam will be followed by a personal interview with the Course Director on the same day

To apply for the Masters of Communications programme, the applicants must be graduates in any discipline. Also, students who are awaiting their examination results are eligible to apply

Applicants must have scored 55% or more in ever semester of their UG programme.
