arol Andrade is a veteran of the journalism scenario in Mumbai, having been in active journalism since 1974. She has worked with The Times of India, Mid-Day and The Afternoon Despatch and Courier, as reporter, senior reporter, and chief reporter. She was the Editor of the TOI Group’s Metropolison Saturday, then took over the Response Edit function (again in the TOI), to bring out their area specific supplements. At one point of time, she was in charge of all the supplements nationally, in subjects ranging from automobiles and education to the Pluses or niche papers for different regions – nearly 100 of them.

She has been teaching journalism for the past 14 years, at XIC and also at the NIEM. Her strength being her ability to deal with both news and features equally well. She is also a great believer in the virtue of sub-editing over reporting.
She has held workshops and seminars on media for a wide range of audiences including IIT students, she has traveled widely in the US, Europe, England, Russia, the Far East, the Middle East, (including Turkey, Israel and Jordan) Japan and Australia. She loves traveling, loves writing about it. She is definitely a people’s person who believes that students have as much to teach her (almost) as she, them. She enjoys technology (within limits), and strives to make her classes thoroughly interactive.
Currently, Carol Andrade is with St Pauls Institute of Communication Education as the dean.
