B.Voc Program in Journalism

How do you tell your story?

The term fourth estate is used to describe the press. The significance of journalism comes from the people’s right to opinion and expression. The right to opinion and expression would not be a reality minus the press.

The graduate program in Journalism prepares students in news writing, media ethics and law, media management, radio journalism, photo journalism and much more.

The B.Voc in Journalism offered in partnership with Tata Institute of Social Sciences, A Deemed University is best suited for students who’d like to learn about the key philosophies and processes in journalism and want to pursue a career in journalism.

The 5 major teachings a B.Voc Journalism graduate gains from this program:

  • How to define a story criteria
  • How to develop a system for research and fact checking ,
  • How journalists have a responsibility to readers to publish high quality writing that is truthful, precise, and clear.
  • How to handle social issues, and at the same time s/he must not strive to be a political force; and how to make pointed opinions, without making accusations.
  • Learn the art of storytelling, the importance of photography and understand the different functions of documentaries.

A driven, talented journalist, will always find their niche either in print media, digital media, photo journalism, the area of regional news or media management.

The Vocational course is a three year program consists a combination of Practical, Theory and Generic (provided by TISS) courses.
